Unified Argos's ecommerce navigation with a component-as-a-service platform, enabling instant rollouts and consistent user experience across all microfrontends.

ReactTypeScriptHeadless ArchitectureAccessibilityPerformance

Project Overview

Argos's ecommerce platform faced a fragmented header and navigation system, requiring teams to independently update packages and coordinate deployments. This led to inconsistencies and slow rollouts, hindering innovation and user experience. The redesign aimed to create a cohesive, modern navigation experience that could be instantly updated across all microfrontends.

The Challenge

The legacy approach hindered a unified navigation experience, with mismatched headers and outdated elements slowing innovation and increasing maintenance costs. Teams struggled to keep up with changes, and users often encountered a disjointed experience.

The Solution

I designed a component-as-a-service platform using React and Node.js, decoupling the header and navigation from microfrontends. This enabled instant updates and a mobile-first, multi-level navigation system, enhancing user interaction and reducing jumpiness. The architecture facilitated rapid deployment and testing of new features.

Results & Impact

The redesign ensured a seamless, unified experience across all microfrontends, boosting user trust and engagement. Instant rollouts and A/B testing cut deployment times, simplified maintenance, and supported accessibility and performance at scale. The mobile-first, multi-level hover-powered navigation system with hover path tracking significantly improved user experience by reducing jumpiness. The project drove measurable increases in conversion and customer satisfaction, empowering Argos to innovate rapidly.
